Broadview Expands Hospitality and Support to Hospitalized Children Through Partnership With Ronald McDonald House Charities in Buffalo

Broadview Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the statewide expansion of its partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) through funding of hospitality carts at Oishei Children’s Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.

Headquartered in Albany, Broadview currently partners with RMHC to sponsor hospitality carts at Albany Medical Center in Albany and Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse.

Stocked with snacks, drinks, small toys, and comfort items, the hospitality carts bring respite and much-needed moments of joy to the bedsides of pediatric patients and their families. The program allows parents to stay close to their children during treatment, without the need to leave the hospital or pay for refreshments.

“It’s about anticipating needs, offering comfort, and showing care in meaningful ways. These carts do exactly that. They bring a warm cup of coffee to a worried parent, a snack to a tired caregiver, and a smile to a child who needs it most. It’s our way of providing a little hospitality with heart,” said Broadview Chief Community Officer Kathy Lanni, whose team spearheaded the project.

In upstate New York, hospitality carts were first brought in to John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo and quickly proved to be a valuable lifeline for families. Inspired by its success in the “City of Good Neighbors,” Broadview worked with Ronald McDonald House to become the exclusive sponsor for carts at Albany Medical Center and Upstate Medical University Hospital, ensuring consistent support and service for families across its statewide footprint.

“This investment aligns perfectly with Broadview’s organizational philosophy of delivering hospitality to those we serve by creating warm, welcoming experiences, anticipating needs, and finding creative solutions to challenges,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “To know our efforts are playing a small part in making a child’s hospital stay more enjoyable and giving parents one less thing to worry about reinforces what we are here to do – change lives every day. We are proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House for this important initiative.”

The hospitality carts in each hospital are managed by volunteers, including Broadview employees, who deliver comfort items directly to patient rooms. The experience often creates heartfelt connections, leading to stories of resilience, kindness, and community support.

“We are incredibly excited for our new partnership with Broadview,” stated Lisa Booz, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York. “Broadview’s support allows us to ‘serve more families better’ – one of our strategic priorities. We are grateful to help even more families through this generous support, providing simple comforts to those who need it the most through our amazing volunteers and Hospitality Carts.”
