Quinnika Richardson has turned personal loss into a powerful source of healing for others. She is the founder of DRE’S Safe Place®, Syracuse’s first interactive wellness center built around its signature pillars: Release. Relax. Rejuvenate. Connect. The center offers immersive, hands-on experiences designed to help individuals process what they're carrying, release internal pressure, and reset both mentally and physically. It serves as a space between calm and crisis where people can let it out, clear their mind, slow down, reconnect with themselves, and leave feeling lighter, without having to say a word.
Quinnika’s work focuses on creating experiences that help people feel safe, supported, and understood. From immersive healing rooms to grief support and “Pay What You Can” days, these offerings make mental and emotional wellness accessible to people from all walks of life.
One especially meaningful part of Quinnika’s work is witnessing the visible shift that happens when individuals finally feel seen and cared for. Whether through quiet reflection, conversation, or emotional release, those moments affirm the importance of having spaces dedicated to healing.
“They write on the board ‘I feel free’ and sometimes that moment is quiet. Sometimes it comes through conversation, tears, or laughter,” said Quinnika. “But when someone realizes they are not alone and that their feelings are valid and it's okay to release, you can see the relief on their face and the relaxation in their body.”
Quinnika’s passion for giving back was shaped by the loss of her son, Drequan. That experience changed how she understood grief, mental health, and the importance of community support. Rather than allowing that pain to isolate her, she chose to transform it into purpose and now helps others find relief, connection, and hope.
In addition to her community work, Quinnika has spent more than 20 years serving as a psychiatric nurse and now lends her leadership as a volunteer board member with NAMI Syracuse.
Through courage, compassion, and innovation, Quinnika continues to break the stigma around mental health and grief. Her work offers a legacy rooted in care, healing, and possibility for the community she serves.
