Broadview in the Community supports nonprofits so they're better equipped to fulfill their mission in the communities we serve. Charitable giving is directed to 501(C)(3) organizations with the following areas of focus.

Areas of Focus

Addiction & Substance Abuse – Broadview is committed to supporting organizations that focus on substance abuse prevention and treatment programs, including drug and alcohol addiction services.

Civic Engagement – In addition to the areas of focus listed above, Broadview supports non-profits that enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. This includes grants that improve program quality and organizational effectiveness and efficiencies.

Domestic Violence – We invest in organizations that support a path to well-being for victims of domestic violence. Examples of assistance provided by these organizations include safety through shelter, clothing, food aid, and other programs that provide basic needs to help victims of domestic violence move forward.

Food Insecurity & Hunger – Broadview assists with community development initiatives that provide access to healthy and nutritious food for individuals and families. Organizations we support address overall food insecurity, or have a mission that concentrates on feeding seniors, veterans, youth, or other sets of people in need.

Health & Well-Being – We support organizations with missions that address special illnesses in patients, resources for caregivers, or deliver messages of prevention. Hospitals and programs that aid people facing economic challenges due to a diagnosis are included. Initiatives that focus on healthcare innovations also receive consideration.

Homelessness & Affordable Housing – Helping individuals find and stay in stable housing is a critical component of Broadview’s community support program. We also partner with nonprofits that provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent affordable housing programs.

Individuals with Disabilities – Broadview is committed to supporting organizations and projects that focus on serving individuals with disabilities. Efforts include assisting youth with neurodiverse disabilities to attend school, housing for adults or veterans with disabilities, and innovations helping people with live, work, or recreate with disabilities.

Mental Health – We are dedicated to supporting organizations that offer programs that provide access to mental health services, help underserved individuals overcome barriers to success, and benefit children and youth for positive mental health outcomes.

Social Enterprise – Social enterprises are entrepreneurial organizations that innovate to solve problems. Broadview partners with nonprofits that develop initiatives to generate revenue to support mission-based activities. Freight Farms are a primary example, generating produce for nonprofits to feed their clientele and revenue for self-sufficiency.

Veterans & Military – Supporting military veterans is a core focus of Broadview’s philanthropy. We support programs that assist veterans with basic needs such as food, clothing, housing, and physical and mental healthcare. We also support veteran programs that provide access to higher education, career training, and small business development.

Workforce Readiness – Programs that assist individuals with higher education, career training, and small business development are another area that Broadview supports. Workforce readiness programs that cater to youth, veterans, or individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply for funding. Funding for general education, training program or higher education scholarships is excluded, as Broadview operates its own robust scholarship programs.

Other Grant Considerations

Special Requests – On occasion, Broadview may be asked to provide support for a local effort that does not align fully with its giving program criteria. These requests will be evaluated on their merits and measurable impact on the community.

Event Sponsorships – To be eligible, the organization's mission should align with the Areas of Focus listed above. Although preference will be given to investments with measurable outcomes, all requests will be evaluated case by case.

In-Kind Giving – Through Broadview's signature giving programs, we donate items to non-profit organizations to help support their ability to fulfill basic needs. Examples include essential supplies for homeless shelters, winter coats, hats, gloves, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies.
