Holiday Sharing 2025

  • Email

December 10, 2025

Broadview continued its annual tradition of bringing comfort and cheer to individuals and families who need it most during the holidays.

Broadview executives and employees delivered $250,000 worth of gifts and essential items to more than 5,000 individuals and families across New York State, marking the culmination of the credit union’s Holiday Sharing program. The effort has been a staple of Broadview’s community support for more than three decades. It continues to grow along with community demand.

“The societal safety net is frayed, and that’s where Broadview becomes the port in the storm. We continue to step up and do what we can to help,” said Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “There are things people need that they could afford before but can no longer afford.”

Requests for support this holiday season are at an all-time high as many individuals and nonprofits report unprecedented demand due to a challenging fall marked by a government shutdown and SNAP benefit reductions. Broadview responded with donations of toys, warm clothing, cookware, toiletries, and other necessities for families, veterans, senior citizens, children, and individuals with disabilities, like those supported by Wildwood Programs.

“For Wildwood, these gifts will go to 25 individuals who have little to no family in the area to guarantee they have a great holiday season and feel included during this festive time of year,” said Wildwood Director of Communications Tanya Buechner. “We can’t be more grateful to Broadview for their support not only during the holiday season but throughout the year.”

Wildwood was among the 80 local nonprofits to participate in Holiday Sharing. The organizations identified individuals and families who would benefit from Broadview’s holiday cheer and supplied individualized shopping lists for each person.

“The opportunity for families to really feel whole and feel like there is hope exuded from the room,” said SEAT Center Corporate Services Administrator Sharon Phillips as she looked around the Broadview auditorium packed with presents. “It was such a tremendous feeling to know so many community partners are involved with something so beautiful.”

All the gifts were purchased with financial contributions from Broadview members and employees. Broadview matches employee donations dollar-for-dollar to maximize their impact. Still, for Broadview volunteers, Holiday Sharing isn’t all about the money.

“It’s about the spirt. It’s about coming to this effort with a full heart to respond to the many needs we have in our community,” said Broadview Chief Community Officer Kathy Lanni.

Broadview’s commitment to supporting the work of nonprofit organizations extended beyond the gifts and essentials distributed today.

Through its Leadership Giving Program, Broadview donated an additional $324,000 to another 60 nonprofits on behalf of the credit union’s management and executives. The giving program empowers leaders and their teams to support the impactful local organizations that matter most to them.

Broadview’s combined efforts of Holiday Sharing and Leadership Giving totaled more than $500,000 being distributed to benefit local nonprofit organizations that are changing lives in our communities during the holidays and throughout the year.
