Broadview’s Commercial Real Estate Division: Investing in Growth, Transforming Communities
August 03, 2026
Broadview Federal Credit Union is accelerating commercial growth across New York State by helping to advance major redevelopments, business expansions, and nonprofit projects that strengthen communities.
The credit union’s commercial real estate lending team has supported projects across the state that bring new energy to key corridors, expand essential services, and help regions plan for long-term growth.
Led by Chief Commercial Banking Officer Lee Carman, this growing team brings decades of combined experience in commercial financing, relationship-based lending, and community-focused investment. The recent addition of Raj Kaur in Albany further strengthens Broadview’s ability to serve businesses, developers, and community organizations throughout the Capital Region and across Broadview’s footprint in Central and Western New York.
“Broadview has built a strong reputation in the Capital Region by combining trusted guidance with a deep understanding of our members’ and customers’ needs,” said Carman. “As we expand into Western New York, we’re bringing that same dedication, backed by a highly knowledgeable team, to support businesses and communities across the state.”
Revitalizing Regional Retail
One of the most impactful projects underway is the transformation of Wilton Mall in Saratoga Springs. As traditional retail centers continue to evolve, Broadview is helping finance a redevelopment that gives the property new ways to serve the community for years to come.
The project could potentially add new residential opportunities connected to the mall, creating a more walkable setting where people can live, shop and access services. The plan also includes a healthcare facility, helping the site remain a relevant regional hub.
Broadview is also supporting what comes next for downtown Albany’s commercial core. The credit union is one of four lenders participating in the financing of Ryan Jankow and the Jankow Companies redevelopment of two large office buildings at 30 South Pearl Street and 54 State Street. The transaction highlights a creative solution to the challenges facing downtown office markets and the opportunity for local lenders to help reposition underused properties for future activity.
Driving Development in Buffalo
Broadview is also gaining momentum in Buffalo’s commercial market, financing more than $40 million in deals over the past six months. This work reflects a growing focus on projects that strengthen Buffalo’s business landscape, support community organizations, and create long-term opportunities across Western New York.

Chief Commercial Banking Officer Lee Carmen.
“Buffalo’s business community is driven, innovative, and collaborative. Broadview is excited to be part of the movement toward smart, meaningful growth,” said Carman. “Our team is committed to providing the expertise, resources, and partnership that established local companies, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits need to grow and thrive, and we see continued opportunity to support more projects across the region.”
Among Broadview’s latest projects is a vibrant mixed-use building in Buffalo with 24 apartments and three ground-floor businesses, including a restaurant and beauty salon. Broadview has also financed a medical office building in Hamburg that houses a cardiology practice affiliated with Trinity Medical.
A Continued Partnership with the Community and Nonprofit Organizations
Many of Broadview’s nonprofit projects are supported through its longstanding partnership with the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region. Broadview has supported the Community Loan Fund’s mission through lines of credit, multi-year investments, and financial training sessions for the nonprofits served by the Fund. These flexible resources help capital reach entrepreneurs, small businesses, and organizations that may otherwise face barriers to traditional financing.

When Camp Stomping Ground in Saratoga County, N.Y., needed a new home to expand its youth leadership and community-building programs, Broadview helped by securing financing because the credit union’s philosophy aligns with the camp’s mission of helping young people build confidence, empathy, and connection. The investment supports an inclusive overnight summer camp in Middle Grove, NY that serves many children from inner-city neighborhoods.
Another community-centered project is Broadview’s work with the South End Children’s Café in Albany. The nonprofit, known for providing nutritious meals, tutoring, and enrichment opportunities, needed more space to meet growing demand.
Broadview’s Commercial team worked with the Café to finance an expanded facility, which has created a warm, welcoming space where the Children’s Café can deepen its impact on local families.
Looking Ahead: Financing With Purpose
Looking ahead, Broadview’s Commercial Lending team remains focused on financing projects that strengthen communities, support growth, and expand opportunity across New York State.
Through trusted partnerships and purpose-driven lending, Broadview is helping transform local investment into stronger businesses, more resilient neighborhoods, and lasting opportunity across New York State.
