Area nonprofits receive support to help maintain their operations.
Nonprofit organizations focus tremendous energy and resources on fulfilling their mission. Meanwhile, many struggle to cover needs that are less visible – such as office equipment, technology upgrades, and building repairs.
The Infrastructure Grant was created to help fill the gap and Broadview in the Community awards $200,000 annually - two rounds per year. Below, meet several of the most recent $10,000 winners and find out how they are making a difference.
Since the Infrastructure Grant was established in 2021, we have gained valuable insights from applicants to identify a need we are passionate about advocating for, Safety. We believe that safety is a basic human right and that is why we are proud to offer the Broadview Safety Initiative Grant.

Congratulations to the Latest Winners
CAPTAIN Community Human Services, Inc.
CAPTAIN will use the infrastructure funds to update their current computer equipment which is over 18 years old. These computers will be used by the staff and volunteers at their Food Pantry, Runaway Homeless Youth Shelter and the youth they service in their Outreach Center after-school program.
Center for Disability Services
This will enable the Center for Disability Services to install new, durable flooring and base cove in their classrooms at St. Margaret’s Center. St. Margaret’s is a skilled nursing facility in Albany providing long-term 24 hour intensive medial care to 78 infants, children and young adults who have chronic illnesses or disabilities. The new floors will enhance accessibility, safety, appearance, and cleanliness in the classrooms.
Equinox, Inc.
Equniox is Albany County’s sole provider of comprehensive services to domestic violence victims, including a 30 bed DV shelters that serves more than 200 adults and 80 children every year. They will use the infrastructure grant to replace the flooring in the kitchen at the DV shelter. Replacing the floors is imperative for the safety and well-being of the families they serve and provide a safe space to.
Homespace Inc.
Located in the city of Buffalo, Homespace helps youth (ages 14-21) to forge a better life for themselves and their children. Their Second Chance Home is open to any youth in foster care that are currently pregnant, or currently parenting (including males) or have had a pregnancy related experience in their lifetime. This program provides a safe, supportive house to raise children, while working towards goals related to permanency, self-sufficiency and parenting. Homespace will use the infrastructure funds to repair the exterior brick wall that surrounds Second Chance home and provides an integral level of security to the residents.
Hope 7 Community Center
The infrastructure grant will allow Hope 7 to facilitate two critical updates they need to continue to serve individuals and families. They will install an air conditioning unit at their food pantry which is located in the basement of a church on Pauling Ave. Previously the pantry has reached over 100 degrees in summer months. This upgrade will ensure the safety of their volunteers who work in the pantry and the people they serve. In addition, it will help to keep the produce fresh and minimize the risk of spoiling and food waste. They also plan to use a portion of the funds to make essential upgrades to their community center which was built in 1886. This includes replacing lights and updating electrical outlets.
Oakwood Community Center
Oakwood Community Centers mission is to bring neighbors together and build bridges among grassroot organizations in the city of Troy. In their building they host a food pantry and support individuals who want to develop programming that focuses resources into their neighborhood. They will use the funds to complete an HVAC project that will upgrade their current system and provide AC and a cost-effective heating system.
Sidewalk Warriors Troy
Each week Sidewalk Warriors aids those who may be in a volatile situation, by providing each person with a hearty meal, essentials, and a variety of other necessities to make their week a little easier. They will use the funds to purchase pull wagons, tables, shelving, and a refrigerator/freezer to help with storing and transporting the donated items they distribute each week.
Veterans & Community Housing Coalition
VCHC will utilize the infrastructure grant to purchase a generator which will serve as a critical back up system at their newly built FOREVERLY House which will provide a home to homeless veteran mothers and their children. Although newly built, this property has a high-water table which poses a risk of power outages and flooding.
YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc.
These funds will assist the YWCA-GCR to replace a large side door that leads to the only handicap-accessible entrance. In addition, they will also widen the entrance which will allow for individuals with larger wheelchairs and strollers to utilize this entrance.
YWCA-NENY
YWCA – NENY will utilize the infrastructure grant to purchase five laptops and ten cell phones for their direct service staff members. By upgrading the technology for their team members, it will directly benefit the domestic violence victims who rely on them to provide counseling, advocacy, housing services and other high priority emergency services.
